A Letter From the Future

 Subject: Urgent Report from the Future: Earth’s death

To: Leaders and Humans of the 21st Century, the year 2024

Dear People of the 21st Century, 


As a representative of the ERI from the year 2074, I bring an important message from the future. The EARTH is going to die. Our world stands on the brink on environmental collapse, an event that was set in motion by the actions and decisions made by of those who were before us. These decisions made in your time by you people has eventually led us to the funeral of our world. It hurts and scares me to say that there won’t be an earth after the year 2080, 6 years from now.


Fifty years ago, in your time, warnings about consequences of environmental degradation were brought to the public. Scientists, activists and citizens gave you many alarms about effects of exploitation of natural resources, air pollution, water pollution and the destructions of ecosystems ,however, despite these warnings, many of you continued on the same path and neglected this problem. Thus, every action has a consequence, and our world is dying because of your actions. Climate change has become very evident in society, with rising temperatures and extreme weather events and Melting ice caps causing havoc. Half of America has become like Antarctica with cold weather being all year round, and a so called summer has temperatures of -5C. And the exacts opposite, burning weathers have causes ice caps to melt increasing sea levels swallowing coastal cities and killing millions of people. There isn’t no Florida after the year 2050 after it sunk to its oceans. Pollution has reached catastrophic levels poisoning our air and water, walking without a mask outside has serious health effects but wearing mask doesn’t prevent it. Consequently, water shortages of occurred as now most of the world is filled with water but poisoned water. Disease outbreaks causing driving migrations to occur. Half the population had been killed or murdered by the actions of you people of 2024. And according to our calculations the human population will cease to exist around 2080. Companies that exploited natural resources for productions, now have no one to buy their products. And we have tried everything to solve this problems and we concluded we can unless you people of 2024 change your ways. Please listen to your scientist about environmental issues and change your ways or else your grandsons won’t make it past 12. Let the choices we make determine the best future. The time for action now.

Why is everyone an “Expert” on social media ? Lately everyone proclaims themselves as gurus, life coaches and strategists who suddenly start to give wisdom on everything.    Scroll for 5 minutes, and you see a wannabe Andrew Tate who calls himself a “wealth coach”, like dude your 20, you just graduated high school and how you gonna start giving everyone else advice. It’s a digital circus with these so called “mindset mentors” who offer a fresh guide on how we unlock our potential for the low, low price of 5 dollars. And the most sad part is people actually falling for these scams, like think about it, if these “mindset mentors’s” courses actually work then why can’t they just use it for themselves to get richer and why would they need profits from our subscription.  The hustle guru—the type who insists that if you’re not getting up at 4:30 a.m.,  you don’t want it enough. Complex Relationships - “Their eyes were watching god”

  This week in class we discussed about the complex relationships of characters in literature. Also this week in class I started to read “Their eyes were watching god” and this book weaves many complex relationships, where the novels protagonist, Janie Crawford, battles with her evolving sense of identity and societal expectations of marriage. Janie is single and sexualized by many men around her. At the beginning, Janie’s relationship with nanny(her grandmother) is one of caring love and also of control. Nanny is born into slavery and is deeply shaped by her traumatic past and who also desires Janie to marry for financial security rather than love. She arranges and forces Janie to marry Logan Killicks, a much older farmer. The relationship between these two characters are complex since Janie who dreams for romantic love, now feels trapped in a loveless marriage.
